Christmas Eve is less than a week away and I was asked to write a short reflection to update our website. Looking out my window, a light rain has begun to fall and there is a tinge of coolness in the air. I have just returned from grading some of our new trails at church. It has been a dream of mine for some time to transform our 4-acer corner lot into a sacred place, a sanctuary for people to come and take a stroll among the trees. The Walk – (our new) pathway for reflection and prayer is coming to life. We now have 8 prayer stations completed and more in the design phase and over a mile of trails. And now as the chaos and joy of 2021 is coming to a close, my hope is that in the coming year YOU will find time to take a walk in the woods, whether here at Port Orange Presbyterian Church or on your favorite hike. Take some time to slow down, to be at peace with your own soul and a listen for the still quiet voice of God. For it is in those sacred places that our spirits are restored, and the next path on the journey of life and faith starts to come into focus.
